I've been a bad girl...

My daughter got married and pregnant. Through the course of the wedding, and throughout the pregnancy, we spent a lot of time together shopping and eating. She gained thirty pounds--perfect pregnancy pounds--while I gained fifteen. Then she lost twenty pounds in seven days after the birth of her baby. How long will it take me to lose my fifteen, plus? 75% of what I'd lost, I'd lost through Weight Watchers to become a lifetime member last year. Ug.

So, back I trotted to WW. "You gained three pounds," she said. If she only knew. I gained a son-in-law and a grandchild, too.

"I just can't deal with this new program, PointsPlus," I said. "Don't they have a book like the old one that shows points and food selections?"

Tossed in my direction flew a PocketGuide and a Program Introductory booklet. Salvation! I devoured them both and have been eating only fruits, veggies, protein, good oils, whole grains, beans and nuts. However, I do refuse to give up olives and avocados. Are they crazy? They're two of the five healthy oils you should have at every meal--well, one serving of one of those at every meal.

My goal breaker actually occurred last Thanksgiving. The day before I weighed in and decided since I was at goal, I would eat whatever I wanted on Turkey day. That was my downfall. And now? Now, I've finally decided to get back on track. I refuse to eat any food off my said list above. To prove it, yesterday was my first day without chocolate...in...months? Years? Who knows? Chocolate is one of the five healthy oils, but I know myself too well. I can't control it. But the one thing I can control is my decision. And I've decided.

How important is your decision to you?

  2. Congratulations on your decision to get healthy!

My decision to go to Zumba every week is really important. I stopped waiting to feel like going, and now I go unless I'm sick or am injured enough to make dancing dangerous.

    Congratulations on your grandchild. :)

  3. So funny. Love the candor. I love weight watchers but do it on my own without going to meetings. You're lucky to be a life-time member. PS I am tagging you right now. Check out what you get to do. *smiles*

  4. I'm so glad I read this! I've gained 20 pounds in the last 2 years. (Stressful job!). So now that I'm jobless...I'm sitting here writing all day. Am I going to gain more weight? Or am I going to decide to exercise and watch what I eat. I'm choosing to do the latter! I want my body back!

  7. Well, big congrats, Grandma!  Who cares about weight when you have a grandbaby!!!  (just teasing!)  You can do it.  You've done it before, and you can do it again.  I'd say your reasons are pretty valid, and now you get to go back to normal!
